I was a U. S. Navy Photographer's Mate, on active duty aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31), 1967 and 1968. We served in five Vietnam campaigns during that time. VAW-13 was part of Carrier Air Wing FIVE during our 1968 WESTPAC combat cruise. I managed to wrangle a ride in a Whale, in the "fourth seat" on the escape hatch, for a sortie to photograph the crew in action for the ship's cruisebook. I was able to score the holdback bar from the tail of the Whale to commemorate my cat shot and arrested landing. These are from that flight. Also included are some pages from that cruise book.
