FOOTNOTES

Since 1956, thirteen Heavy Attack Squadrons (VAHs or HATRONs),
two Aerial Refueling Squadrons (VAKs or AERREFRONs),
two Heavy Photographic Squadrons (VAPs or HATPHOTORONs),
nine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadrons (VAQs or TACELRONs),
one Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW or CARAEWRON),
one Composite Photographic Squadron (VCP or PHOTOCOMPRON),
two Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadrons (VQs or FAIRECONs),
and one Fleet Transport Squadron (VR or TRANSRON) have flown Skywarriors. In addition, A3s have been operated by a Naval Air Reserve Unit (NARU) as well as by and at several specialized naval units and facilities (ARF, COMFLELOGSUPPWING, FEWSG, NADC, NAPOG, NASWF/NWEF, NATO, NATE, NMC/PMTC, and NOTS/NWC). Skywarrior squadron histories are followed by synopses of Skywarrior operations by other naval units
